Polysmart Plastics Welder Training

Advanced Electrofusion Training Welding for the Coal Seam Gas Industry

This training program is an advanced version of the PMBWELD302B. Whilst the general elements are similar, greater emphasis is placed on

  • pipe preparation for welding larger couplings
  • hands-on welding of 315mm coupling
  • welding in site conditions
  • why welds fail and how to avoid it
  • record keeping

Training Outcome

Trainees successfully completing the course will have demonstrated they can competently complete small and large (315mm) electrofusion welds using correct preparation and handling procedures. They will also have a sound understand why electrofusion welds can fail; problems that can arise in site conditions; and how to plan to avoid these problems.

Training Elements include:

  1. In depth theory of Electrofusion Welding
  2. Worksite Safety
  3. Maintenance of EF Tools and Equipment
  4. Material and fitting identification
  5. Correct handling of pipes and fittings
  6. Pipe preparation: Ovality; Marking; Peeling; Cleaning
  7. Demonstrate correct process of complete small EF weld
  8. Each trainee completes successful weld of small coupling
  9. Review of welding process with detailed discussion on why welds fail and
    how to avoid it
  10. Demonstrate correct process of complete 315mm EF weld
  11. Welding of 315mm coupling under close supervision
  12. Debrief 315mm weld process
  13. Using new knowledge in site conditions
  14. Quiz and Assessment

Duration

One Day Practical. Online theory must be completed at least 48 hours prior to the practical session
Limit of 6 trainees per session. This ensures every trainee receives ample one-on-one instruction.
